Description: This dataset represents building roof footprint extents and should not be confused with the building industry floor footprint. They can be used in 2D representations and 3D scenes with a DEM. This represents building model capture coverage up till Mid2015.

Description: The 2D building footprint dataset is a 2D representation of building roof extents and should not be confused with the building industry floor footprint. This layer should be used to complement the higher accuracy, higher detail “2D Building Footprint” dataset (SL_CGIS_2D_BLD_FTPR) that is directly derived from the photogrammetrically acquired 3D Building Models. This dataset is derived from the City of Cape’s LiDAR 2021B dataset using automated feature extraction tools. The LiDAR point cloud has a density of 10 points per square meter and a vertical accuracy of 0.1m (95%). The point cloud is classified into ground, buildings, and unclassified points. The building roofs are vectorised and then run through a regularisation process. Following this, a limited, manual QC is performed on the dataset to clean false positives (features incorrectly classified as buildings). The data set will be amended periodically to align with the latest acquired LiDAR dataset. This dataset is an interim (“beta”) building footprint layer that will be replaced with a higher accuracy, cleaner building footprint dataset that is currently being generated using the Deep Learning feature extraction approach. The aim of the ‘beta’ footprint layer is to supply the City with a building footprint layer that has metro-wide coverage.
Description: The TSM dataset contains the co-ordinates of approx. 10000 control points. They are spread across the municipal area of the City of Cape Town. The dataset includes standard TSMs, Bench Marks, additional control points and photo control points.

Description: The 5m Contour line data set displays contours at every 5m height interval covering the entire municipal area of the City of Cape Town. The 0m contour is excluded from the dataset. The dataset is being updated annually. The data set is in ESRI shapefile format.

Description: Ground Water Protection Zones are areas demarcated in order to protect ground water resources important for current or potential future for municipal bulk water abstraction. They map aquifer vulnerability to groundwater contamination. The intension is to manage land use and limit various of high risk land uses within the zones in order to minimise contamination risks and to ensure the protection of groundwater quality to abstraction boreholes. Five levels of protection zones are defined with reference to groundwater travel times with the highest level being Zone 1 (within 10 meters of the wellhead), followed by Zone 2 (2-year travel time), Zone 3 (5-year travel time), Zones 4 (10-year travel time) and Zone 5 (full catchment area beyond 10-year travel time). Current mapping includes Atlantis and Cape Flats Aquifers and portions of the Table Mountain Group Aquifer relevant for CCT Bulk Water abstraction.
